C.P. Vietnam Implements Circular Economy Model for a Sustainable Development journey.

On December 10,2024, at the Melia Hotel, Hanoi, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, together with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), hosted “Vietnam Circular Economy Forum 2024” under the theme “ From Plan to Action”

This was the key message delivered by the CEO of C.P. Vietnam at the “Vietnam Circular Economy Forum 2024” organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

On December 10,2024, at the Melia Hotel, Hanoi, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, together with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), hosted “Vietnam Circular Economy Forum 2024” under the theme “ From Plan to Action”

Attending the Forum were Mr. Tran Quy Kien, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment. Representing C.P. Vietnam Corporation were Mr. Pawalit Ua-Amornwanit, CEO; Mr. Vũ Anh Tuấn, Senior Vice President; Mr. Worawit Arunraksa, Assistant Vice President; and the Sustainability Development Department.

The Forum aimed to accelerate the implementation of the circular economy in Vietnam in alignment with the national development orientation for the 2021–2030 period, with the Government’s goal of “Building a circular, environmentally friendly economy.” This was considered a significant event, marking a milestone in shaping the National Action Plan to promote the circular economy in Vietnam.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister Tran Quy Kien emphasized that implementing the circular economy is an intersectoral task and a responsibility of the entire society, requiring the participation of all levels of government, ministries, sectors, localities, organizations, and individuals.

He affirmed: “The realization of the National Action Plan on Circular Economy will help drive innovation, improve labor productivity, develop best practices, foster green culture and lifestyle, while also promoting green jobs and the development of new value chains within the circular economy.”

At the forum, Mr.Pawalit -Ua Amornwanit - CEO of C.P. Vietnam, stated: “ C.P. Vietnam has applied the circular economy model in its business operations for many years. Most of our activities are carried out through improving production processes, optimizing workflows, and investing in modern machinery and advanced technologies at our factories and production facilities, enhancing product quality and long-term sustainability”.

"Regarding plastics, particularly the implementation of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) as stipulated by Vietnamese law, C.P. Vietnam complies by making declarations on the EPR system and participating in the Packaging Recycling Organization Vietnam (PRO Vietnam). Being a member of PRO not only fulfills our producer responsibility, but we also recognize that cooperating and engaging in PRO’s activities with government agencies, including the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, will significantly contribute to expanding recycling and waste management efforts in the most proactive way possible.” – shared Mr. Pawalit Ua-Amornwanit.

Under the theme “Promoting the Circular Economy in Vietnam – From Plan to Action,” the Vietnam Circular Economy Forum 2024 featured one plenary session and three thematic seminar. The Forum provided an overview of orientations, policy frameworks, the current situation, and innovative solutions to foster circular economy development in Vietnam, while highlighting the role of the private sector in its implementation.

Within the framework of the Forum, thematic discussions were also held to further promote circular economy activities. The circular economy is considered a key solution to innovating the sustainable growth model, contributing to the achievement of Vietnam’s commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050.

The Vietnam Circular Economy Forum 2024 attracted the participation, presentations, and contributions of many international and domestic experts from diverse fields, generating constructive and effective discussions on strategies to promote the circular economy in Vietnam.
