Planting 1.5 Million Additional Trees Through Public-Private Partnership for a Green Vietnam
Launched in 2021, the “C.P. Vietnam - Journey for a Green Vietnam” program aims to contribute a total of 3 million trees over a ten-year period, supporting environmental restoration and sustainable development across the country.
For the 2026–2030 phase, the program targets the planting of an additional 1.5 million trees nationwide, with an estimated investment of VND 35 billion. Activities will be prioritized in selected provinces across northern, central, and southern Vietnam, while also expanding to areas in need of forest restoration and landscape greening initiatives.
Mr. Tran Quang Bao, Director General of the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection, stated: “The partnership between the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and C.P. Vietnam demonstrates the effectiveness of public–private collaboration in mobilizing resources for forest protection and development. It also contributes to sustainable forestry, green growth, circular economy initiatives, and the achievement of Vietnam’s environmental goals.”
“Sustainability guides everything we do at C.P. Vietnam,” said Mr. Vu Anh Tuan, Senior Vice President of Feed Business at C.P. Vietnam. “Through our partnership with the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection, we are advancing our commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050 while contributing 3 million trees to Vietnam over the next decade. This initiative supports efforts to combat drought and land degradation, enhance biodiversity, and create lasting environmental benefits for future generations.”

Launched in 2021, the “C.P. Vietnam – Journey for a Green Vietnam” program is one of the company’s long-term sustainability initiatives. During the 2021–2025 phase, C.P. Vietnam exceeded its target by planting more than 1.52 million trees across over 350 hectares nationwide. Initial assessments show that 57 hectares have achieved a tree survival rate of over 85% compared to the original planting density. These areas have been officially recognized as established forests, inspected, and handed over to local authorities for management. Trees planted in the remaining areas continue to be monitored, maintained, and evaluated in accordance with technical requirements before being transferred in phases through 2028. These achievements provide a strong foundation for the continued expansion of the program in the years ahead.
Under the 2026–2030 plan, seedlings will be provided to localities across Vietnam, with priority given to mangrove forests, degraded and barren land designated for forestry development, national parks, and areas suitable for expanding green coverage. Activities will be tailored to local conditions and needs to maximize tree survival rates and deliver long-term environmental benefits.
Donating 10,000 Drought-Resistant Forestry Seedlings
At the Ceremony in Response to the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought 2026, C.P. Vietnam donated 10,000 drought-resistant, soil-conserving forestry seedlings to representatives of the military and local communities in Lang Son Province. Nearly 300 participants joined a tree-planting activity held on the campus and training grounds of the Northeast College of Technology and Agro-Forestry, demonstrating a shared commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.

Speaking at the Ceremony in Response to the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought 2026, Mr. Tran Quang Bao, Director General of the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection, emphasized that combating desertification must be recognized as a core component of national security. “Land degradation cannot be addressed solely through policy documents or technical solutions. It requires sustained, long-term action on the ground and the collective efforts of all stakeholders—from policymakers, scientists, businesses, and international organizations to every member of the community,” he said.

“For more than 33 years in Vietnam, the C.P. Group has remained committed to growing sustainably alongside the country and its communities. Together with our partners and local communities, we strive to contribute to efforts to combat drought, prevent land degradation, and protect forest, land, and water resources. We hope these efforts will help strengthen food security, safeguard sustainable livelihoods, improve quality of life, and support the sustainable development of Vietnam’s agri-food sector,” said Mr. Vu Anh Tuan, Senior Vice President of Feed Business at C.P. Vietnam.
