On August 25, 2026, C.P. Vietnam held the Ceremony to Announce the Export of Vietnam’s First Shipment of Processed Chicken to South Korea, more than four months after Vietnam and South Korea officially opened their markets to processed chicken products. This not only marked C.P. Vietnam’s first shipment to South Korea, but also the first time processed chicken from Vietnam has been exported to the South Korean market.

A Significant Milestone in Vietnam–South Korea Bilateral Agricultural Cooperation
According to Mr. Duong Tat Thang, Director General of the Department of Livestock Production and Veterinary Medicine, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the official opening of the processed chicken market between Vietnam and South Korea represents an important milestone in bilateral agricultural cooperation.
“Alongside C.P. Vietnam, the first company to export processed chicken to South Korea, we expect more qualified Vietnamese enterprises to become eligible for exports to the South Korean market, thereby contributing to increasing the export value of Vietnam’s livestock and food processing industries,” Mr. Thang said.

The ceremony took place at the CPV Food Binh Phuoc Poultry Production and Export Processing Complex. This achievement was made possible with guidance and support from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, particularly the Department of Livestock Production and Veterinary Medicine and other relevant technical agencies, throughout the process of completing technical standards, veterinary quarantine requirements, and export documentation. South Korean authorities also coordinated closely during the assessment, inspection, and evaluation process in Vietnam.

First Company to Meet South Korea’s Stringent Export Requirements
On April 22, 2026, Vietnam and South Korea officially announced the opening of their markets to processed chicken products. During the initial stage, two companies from each country were authorized to export these products to the other country’s market. In Vietnam, C.P. Vietnam became the first company to meet the requirements for exporting Vietnam’s first shipment of processed chicken to South Korea.
An overview of the CPV Food Binh Phuoc Complex
Behind the market-opening announcement was more than five years of preparation by C.P. Vietnam, beginning when the CPV Food Binh Phuoc Complex officially commenced operations.
With a total investment of approximately US$250 million, the CPV Food Binh Phuoc Complex operates under an integrated Feed – Farm – Food model, bringing the “From Farm to Home” approach to life. The complex includes a feed mill, hatchery, farming system, slaughterhouse, and food processing plant. End-to-end control across the value chain enables the company to ensure quality, food safety, traceability, and compliance with the stringent technical requirements of individual international markets.
To obtain approval from South Korea, the company underwent an eight-step assessment process conducted by two South Korean authorities: the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APQA) and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS).
C.P. Vietnam completed the requirements set out in two comprehensive questionnaires, each approximately 1,000 pages long. These requirements cover end-to-end controls, from farming areas and disease status to pre- and post-slaughter inspections, processing, heat treatment, packaging, and transportation.

One of the biggest challenges was the comprehensive on-site assessment. From July to December 2025, South Korean inter-agency inspection teams conducted on-site assessments of the entire integrated Feed – Farm – Food model, from the feed mill and farming system to the processing plant. The challenge for C.P. Vietnam was to demonstrate full consistency across the entire system and achieve 100% compliance with the stringent criteria set by South Korean authorities at every stage of production.
The poultry used as raw materials must be healthy and pass pre- and post-slaughter inspections conducted by competent veterinary authorities. The processing procedures must meet heat-treatment requirements, with the core temperature of the product exceeding 80°C for at least one minute. Areas before and after heat treatment must be physically separated, while personnel, entrances, changing rooms, and supporting areas must also be separately arranged to prevent the risk of cross-contamination.

“Today’s event marks the first export of processed chicken from Vietnam to South Korea. This can be seen as a symbol of the friendship between our two countries. I believe that, with the recognition of its quality and growing popularity among consumers around the world, C.P. Vietnam’s products will reach even more countries, while more C.P. Vietnam products will be exported to South Korea, contributing to increasing the export value of both countries,” Mr. Kim Hyun Woo, Agricultural Attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam, said at the ceremony.
Strengthening Export Capacity and Adding Value to Vietnam’s Processed Chicken Products
With the export of its first shipment of processed chicken to South Korea, C.P. Vietnam’s processed chicken products are now available in eight international markets, including markets with stringent standards such as Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Russia.
