From Shrimp Genetics Research to High-Tech Farming Models
One of the key highlights of the conference was a presentation by Dr. Robins McIntosh, Executive Director of C.P. Group’s shrimp genetic research center, who shared insights into the research, selection and breeding of shrimp broodstock—the foundation for developing shrimp seed lines that meet the increasingly demanding requirements of modern shrimp farming.
According to the presentation, the research process focuses not only on growth performance, but also on robustness, adaptability to farming conditions and the potential to achieve larger harvest sizes. In Vietnam, C.P. has translated these research outcomes into a range of shrimp strains, including CPF Turbo G21, known for its fast growth; CPF Turbo Fresh, developed to balance rapid growth with robustness; CPF Super Monodon, a fast-growing black tiger shrimp line; and CPF Hyper Monodon, a black tiger shrimp line developed for high-density farming in ponds with bottom liners. These shrimp strains are the result of C.P. Group’s research, selection and breeding programs for shrimp broodstock.

Building on its advances in shrimp genetics and seedstock, C.P. Vietnam is bringing these innovations into practice through the development of suitable farming models. At the conference, C.P. Vietnam officially launched the CPF Hyper Monodon High-Tech Black Tiger Shrimp Farming Model, marking another step forward in the application of technology to black tiger shrimp farming.

C.P. Vietnam’s executives perform the activation ceremony for the CPF Hyper Monodon high-density black tiger shrimp farming model in bottom-lined ponds.
Black tiger shrimp have traditionally been farmed in earthen ponds, while farming in bottom-lined ponds has yet to deliver the expected results. With CPF Hyper Monodon, C.P. Vietnam has developed a bottom-lined pond farming model built around biosecurity, incorporating multi-stage nursery and grow-out practices.
The model integrates shrimp postlarvae, nutrition, probiotics and pond management practices. During the initial stage, Pro-55, a feed containing 55% protein, is used to meet the shrimp’s nutritional requirements, while Super Monodon feed is used in subsequent stages. Before harvest, Goal Max is added to support the color, firmness of the flesh and shell characteristics of market-size shrimp. In parallel, the Probiotic Farming program uses probiotics to support water quality management and shrimp health.
In addition to genetics and postlarve, the conference also featured the latest developments in nutrition through a presentation titled “Breakthrough Nutrition Formulation” by Dr. Kanin Patrachotpakinkul, a C.P. Group specialist in aquaculture feed quality management. Research and improvements in feed formulation contribute to greater nutritional efficiency, support shrimp health and optimize overall farming performance, while further strengthening the integrated solution C.P. Vietnam is developing for shrimp farmers, from postlaevae and nutrition to farming practices.
These efforts reflect C.P. Vietnam’s approach to postlarvae development, which goes beyond supplying shrimp seed to developing integrated solutions spanning genetics, hatchery production, nutrition and farming practices. Through this approach, C.P. Vietnam aims to support shrimp farmers in improving both farming performance and the consistency and stability of their production cycles.
Honoring Customers Along a 30-Year Journey
Alongside the conference’s technical sessions, a special segment was dedicated to recognizing and expressing appreciation to customers and dealers who delivered outstanding business performance in 2026, as well as those who pioneered the development of C.P.’s black tiger shrimp farming model in bottom-lined ponds.

C.P. Vietnam recognizes customers and dealers for their outstanding performance and valuable contributions throughout the journey of partnership and growth.
Thirty years marks an important milestone; a time to reflect on the journey so far while looking ahead to new opportunities for growth. As Vietnam’s aquaculture industry continues to evolve, with increasingly stringent expectations for seedstock quality, production efficiency and biosecurity, C.P. Vietnam remains committed to research, technological innovation and the continuous advancement of farming solutions.

C.P. Vietnam, together with its partners and customers, continues to work together, innovate and create practical value for Vietnam’s aquaculture industry.
C.P. Vietnam will continue listening, innovating, and working closely with its partners and customers to create even greater practical value for Vietnam's aquaculture industry.
